Edit: Im going to send in a deposit for them to hold the car until next week when I get back from work.

So, I’ve been eyeing up a Ralliart Sportback up in Seattle for the last month, and noticed they dropped the price into a realm I was willing to pay. Called my credit union, called the dealership, and We may be 10 days away from a new car if everything irons itself out.
As some of you may recall I am growing weary of my BMWs little quirks but my wife had encouraged me to stick with it and we had talked about replacing our boat of a ford freestyle with something a little newer and smaller quite a bit lately.
So if all goes to plan, in with the new:

If only they made these into full blown Evo’s; always liked these things

While working at a car dealership, I had one just like that for about a week and another identical blue one for about another week.
They are properly quick cars and the hatch is a nice touch, although the overall cargo room may still leave something to be desired.
The first DCT I ever drove was the orange one. It was a fun week. I remember telling people “it’s basically an EVO” lol. Called them the rally wagons.

I’ve always had a weird liking for the Freestyle/Taurus X

If we had a Taurus X, it may have stuck around for a while longer. They are a bit quicker, just a little better looking and there is no CVT groaaaannnnnnn.
When we bought it my wife and I just wanted something with lots of space as we were hauling bikes and camping gear every other weekend. And for that purpose it was awesome not having to deal with a roof or trunk rack, just take off the front wheels and slide the bikes in the back. You can sleep in the damn thing comfortably too.

In his defense the Taurus X in darker colors is a decent looking vehicle. Our green one, not so much.

I really like the overall look of the car, the shark nose looks really mean.
The hatch on the Sportback leaves a little to be desired but all in all its a good looking car.

Taurus X was better because you didn’t have to deal with a CVT and you got the bigger 3.5L.
I’m awfully surprised at your response giving AWD Wagon with 263 hp:

I like the lancer sportback a lot, and don’t see many of them. Also, I owned a base Lancer for about 7 years, and it was pretty bullet proof.

Yea it ticks all the right boxes on paper, I just don’t like the design. It looks stuck between a wagon and a CUV and just doesn’t look right. If I’m going to get a wagon from Ford I’m getting this with the 3.5L ecoboost engine. I don’t even have a family yet and I really want one of these

A gentleman in my office building has one. Also orange and in Seattle and he loves it. Says the mpg is pretty good.

The flex has way more style but you pay for it compared to the Taurus X, and even though their dimensions are the same more or less, it looks way bigger. I wonder if it feels that way in the drivers seat.
If the Taurus X didn’t have third row seating then the roof line could have been a little sleeker. The little hump at the back to add headroom is what always drove me nuts about the looks of it.

The Flex has 3rd row seats as well though

Well I like the Flex, I actually like the MKT even more, so obviously we’re not going to match up on wagon styling...

Haha...man you got weird taste, whatever floats your boat i guess. All I can think of when I see those older Lincoln grills is whale baleen

Oh you’re just at the top of the iceberg here man.
I own 2 Mercury’s - 2007 Milan and 1968 Montego MX
I’m a huge Mercury fan and I love Lincolns too.
Why you gotta be so anti-whale?
AWD 365 hp wagon that’s not completely slab sided like the Flex? Sign me up. Man the inside of an MKT is a nice place to be.

Not saying I wouldn’t take an MKT, just that I’d chose a Flex over it. I like boxes, as an engineer I appreciate their efficiency. Even so, I can’t hate too much on anything with 365HP.

Even better is going to be this stealthy bastard with 400 hp 400 torque in the little MKZ with AWD. Check out Lincoln quietly walking up with a big stick.

It's just like an EVO, that's the delusion I'll keep telling myself as well.

They are asking $14k for a 2010 with 68k miles. KBB is 12-14k for that kind of mileage so I’ll get a them down a little. It retailed for about $4k more than the ST when both were new, in part because of the AWD and the getrag DCT.
I'd imagine when STs get to that kind of age, they'll be comparable in price. Better name recognition than the Ralliart, but lower original price and less features.
Engine aside, lots of the parts on this model are shared with lower end ralliarts so availability of most stuff shouldn’t be bad. If the transmission craps the bed(which I haven’t seen too many reports of except for really hard use) I’ll shed some tears but otherwise I don’t think maintenance will be too daunting.

I am actually a fan of the Lancer wagons, but they are VERY uncommon here. I’ve maybe seen....like....2?
Good luck! :)
